Come and celebrate 50 years of great sports car memories at Lakeside Park with this season’s Festival of Sporting Cars. The city of Ipswich and the Best Western Ipswich invites every Australian motor sport fan to take part on all the festivities on this jam packed weekend at Lakeside Park.
As a fitting tribute to Lakeside Park 50th year in the motor sport business, the Festival of Sporting Cars will throw a huge weekend celebration that will highlight its rich racing history. Taking place on 22 - 24 July 2011 at the Lakeside Park in Ipswich, the festival will showcase an extravagant array of sport vehicles represented through on-track and in trackside car displays.
Over the year’s, Lakeside has harboured some of the most prestigious race car drivers that have driven an impressive range of high powered speed machines around the fast, flowing Queensland circuit. Jim Richards, Alan Jones, Kevin Bartlett, John French, John Harvey and Brian Foley are just some of the famous names that become a part of Lakeside’s history. Superb and exotics cars from Porsche, Lotus, Ferrari, Alfa Romeo and MG and locally produced specials such as Elfin, Centaur and Kaditcha have all been driven and competed at the secure tracks at Lakeside Park.

The Festival of Sports Cars will feature one of a kind vehicles that are either home made, kit cars or manufactured in very low volumes by specialist car makers. Motor sports fans can feast their eyes on superb speed machines that includes a Porsche 904, Porsche RSK, Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint Speciale, a Ferrari Monza and a new Ford GT40 exhibited at the Queensland Motorsport Museum located at the ground floor. Moreover, the exhibit will also showcase road-going vehicles made from Europe and Japan. Aside from the spectacular car displays, race car enthusiasts can also meet the one of the greatest sports car drivers to grace the Lakeside circuit, John French.
